David Coulson Design wins the BC Hydro Power Smart Contractor of the Year - The Mendoza Home

David Coulson Design Ltd. is honoured for the energy-efficient renovation of the Mendoza family home in Duncan. The company faced the challenge of fitting Power Smart improvements into a heritage restoration - and succeeded on both counts, increasing energy efficiency witout compomising the character of the 1892 home.

David Coulson Design emhasized the selection of cost-effective measures to increase the energy savings and comfort of the home. The work included an important safety component with the replacement of older windows that had become structurally unsound.

David Coulson Design brought the phrase "custom service" to life by involving the Mendozas at every stage of the renovation. In addition to providing expert construction services, the firm offered an array of design services from paint and fabric consultation to furniture design.

In carrying out the Mendoza home renovation, David Coulson and his crew did more than meet Power Smart requirements. They also enhanced the comfort and efficiency of the home, while respecting its unique heritage character.
